Commercial: ETRADE Atlanta

  • ETRADE ATLANTA Data and Call Center: 1998 - 1999
Size: 54,000 s.f.
Location: Atlanta, Georgia

E*Trade Atlanta was the third expansion site for this growing internet company. This site was designed to incorporate the same corporate functions found in their Sacramento facilities, including a state-of-the-art training facility. E*Trade’s third office required, again, Master Planned flexibility of office space. This time, however, the office consisted of 3 floors within a 10-story high-rise. The difference in this project was the design context. Unlike the casualness of California, E*Trade Atlanta required a more traditional approach to the design. This was accomplished by use of such traditional finishes as wood framed doors and windows as well as a more rectilinear organization of workstations.

A contemporary feel as well as the workstation neighborhoods still exist to identify with the nature of the firm. The central core establishes the common areas from the workspaces, in contrast Sacramento. This new dimension challenged the interchangeability of the spine plan. The elevator becomes the basis of inter-floor circulation and potential for hierarchy occurs within the neighborhood scheme. In accordance with the firm’s emphasis on social interaction, the elevator lobby sits directly across from common break areas.
