THERMAL IMAGE ANALYSIS
Finding the source of energy leaks from a building is aided through the use of a thermal imaging camera. These cameras record the surface temperature of everything within the view. They do not record air temperature, but moving air leaves a thermal trail on the surfaces it touches, which the camera does see. For this reason thermal imaging analysis is done during the Blower Door envelope leakage test, as air is being forced through all the cracks and voids of the building, becoming visible to the thermal imaging camera.
Improperly installed insulation within wall, ceiling and floor assemblies can also be located with a thermal imaging camera.
